Sara Fun, DO

Resident

Where are you from? Portland, Oregon

What are your personal interests/hobbies? I love hiking and long walks, trying new restaurants, creating ikebana floral arrangements, playing pickleball, fly-fishing, skiing, traveling and visiting national parks.

What are your professional interests? Critical care, palliative care, law and ethics in emergency medicine, and medical education

Why did you choose U of A emergency medicine? I was drawn to this program because of its well-rounded training and longitudinal exposure to academic, community and pediatric emergency medicine. The residents on interview day were genuine and happy to be training at the U of A. The leadership team is solid and stable — a great foundation for supportive learning and growth. Also, my husband was pretty hyped about endless breakfast burritos, which was a strong sell.

What is your favorite activity in Tucson or what attracted you to Tucson besides the residency program? Eating delicious food, access to national parks, chill desert lifestyle and the perfect climate for our mini cactus, Frank

What are your nonmedical goals during residency? Enjoy time outdoors, travel internationally, try film photography, avoid sunburns and spend time with family and loved ones!
