Several College of Medicine – Tucson and Department of Medicine faculty participated as panelists and moderators at this event, which celebrated the serendipitous missions in efforts to improve medical therapies and healthcare throughout Southern Arizona.

A five-year, nearly $14 million award from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, or PCORI, will support a University of Arizona-led clinical trial headed by Sairam Parthsarathy, MD, comparing three common treatments for obstructive sleep apnea.

With a fresh venue and smiles for an excellent year of academic merit, faculty, students, residents and a fellow or two as well as education staff gathered for the annual honors celebration at The Eddy Hotel.

Marvin Slepian, MD, JD, Regents Professor, cardiologist and U of A Center for Accelerated Biomedical Innovation director, will deliver the Eva M. Holtby Endowed Keynote Presentation, May 16, exploring a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape where artificial intelligence is enhancing how clinicians diagnose, treat and manage disease.

GGP’s Amy Klein, MD, palliative medicine medical director at Banner – University Medicine Tucson, was named the 2026 Friend of Nursing Honoree, among several awards presented May 6. Among other honors, nurses in the Cardiology and Nephrology divisions were recognized, too.

The College of Medicine – Tucson and the College of Medicine – Phoenix, which Blue Ridge combines for ranking purposes, increased their combined funding to $108.2 million, boosting their national rank two spots to No. 55.
