Branden L. Barber, DO
Dr. Barber is originally from Florida’s Tampa Bay region. Prior to medical school, after earning his GED, he became an X-ray technologist to pursue his curiosity in human health. He fell in love with understanding people’s motivations, challenges, dreams and life stories. While taking a scenic route to medicine, he ultimately navigated his way to psychiatry. He said he sees it as the specialty least afraid to engage with life’s unexpected turns and wants to assist patients in navigating the human experience. Throughout medical school, he volunteered as a counselor with a crisis text line and with various youth-related causes.
Dr. Barber is interested in developing a broad medical skill set and a greater understanding of integrating psychotherapy into daily practice. He is passionate about the intersection of psychiatry, neurology and endocrinology for a holistic view on the mind and body to provide evidence-based, comprehensive psychiatric care.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys being outdoors, gardening, cooking, baking, playing video games, watching horror movies, and spending time with his husband, son and dog. He said he is excited to establish roots after moving cross-country from Florida to Arizona. Dr. Barber is actively exploring Arizona and the unique flora in his free time — at least the free time that is not used up by being a YouTube-taught handyman for all his various projects around the house.
