Kobe Saldana, MD
Where are you from? Phoenix, Arizona
What are your personal interests/hobbies? Hiking, camping, fitness and yoga, trying new foods, streaming movies and TV shows, listening to music, and traveling with family and friends.
What are your professional interests? Medical education, critical care and ultrasound
Why did you choose U of A emergency medicine? I chose this program because of the tremendous support I received from the faculty and residents during my rotations with the program. The faculty and residents went above and beyond to support medical students, and their camaraderie with one another is unmatched. Most importantly, I have experienced a lot of personal and professional growth in Tucson and the U of A, having been here for both college and medical school. I am a proud U of A Wildcat, and I look forward to continuing to serve the community that helped shape me into the person I am today.
What is your favorite activity in Tucson or what attracted you to Tucson besides the residency program? I love hiking and taking any chance I get to be outdoors. Tucson’s weather and natural scenery are unbeatable, and I love going on outdoor runs and walks to help myself unwind. Also, the food scene here is unbelievable, and it’s no wonder Tucson was named a City of Gastronomy. Finally, I love attending annual community events such as Tucson Meet Yourself, the Winterhaven Festival of Lights and Sonoran Restaurant Week, to name a few.
What are your nonmedical goals during residency? I hope to prioritize self-care, cultivate new friendships, stay connected with family and friends all over the country, discover new hiking trails in Tucson, go on road trips to nearby national parks, and read more books.
