Frank C. “Chip” Brosius, III, MD

Professor, Medicine (Tenure Track)

In addition to serving as a professor in the University of Arizona Division of Nephrology, Dr. Brosius is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan, where he had been Division of Nephrology chief and the George O’Brien Kidney Center director until he joined the U of A faculty after 2016. A National Institutes of Health-funded investigator for more than 30 years, his work focuses on identifying new therapeutic targets for diabetic and chronic kidney diseases. He is principal investigator for the University of Arizona Recruitment Site of the NIH-funded Kidney Precision Medicine Project and has served as a member of the NIH Pathobiology of Kidney Disease (PBKD) study section, an associate editor of the journal Diabetes, and chair of the American Heart Association’s Kidney Council and the Research Advocacy Committee for the American Society of Nephrology.
