In honor of National Doctors’ Day, physicians across Banner – University Medicine Tucson were treated March 30 to breakfast, lunch and dinner, honoring their commitment to clinical care and their patients. See a mini-photo gallery of DOM faculty there.

Tucson’s Banner Health physicians were served free meals in honor of National Doctors’ Day. Similar meals were offered at Banner – UMC South with Korean and Mexican food trucks at Banner – University Medicine North.

Physicians across Banner – University Medicine Tucson were feted Monday with a variety of meals to celebrate National Doctors’ Day, which is held annually on March 30 in the U.S. to honor them for their dedication, hard work and contributions to patient care and community health.

The festivities at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson were sponsored by Medical Staff Services and Banner – UMC Tucson and Banner UMC South Hospital Administration.
“I enjoyed getting to see all our colleagues from different disciplines and to know the new faculty who’ve joined us since last gathering,” said Fariba Donovan, MD, PhD, an associate professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases and research scientist with the Valley Fever Center for Excellence.

“It felt great to be with my colleagues and appreciate the work they do. Working with such a great group of physicians filled with such dedication, compassion and teamwork are what brings me joy,” added Amy Klein, MD, an associate professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics & Palliative Medicine, program director of the Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship and palliative medicine medical director at Banner – UMC Tucson.
The fare there included a breakfast of waffles and mixed berries with whipped topping from 6:30-9 a.m. in the Physician Lounge; lunch from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the college’s Social Hall, including ginger beef with pineapple or sweet chili tofu, fried rice, broccoli, spring rolls, a la carte sushi and a dessert of orange filo cake or cheesecake with berry topping; as well as a dinner of assorted sandwiches and dessert bars in the Physician Lounge.
South Campus, or BUMC South, enjoyed the same menu for lunch, breakfast and dinner in the Physicians Lounge and La Galería cafeteria. North campus was treated for lunch with food trucks: Yum Yum Pocha (Korean ramen bowls of beef, chicken or vegetarian) and Birrieria Las Chicas (a three-taco plate with nachos and birria) — beverages included.
