The University of Arizona, College of Medicine invites applications and nominations for Head, Department of Immunobiology.
The University of Arizona College of Medicine invites applications and nominations for a position that entails a unique opportunity to serve as Head and work with the Dean and the faculty to formulate the direction for a new Department of Immunobiology.
As part of a recent restructuring to provide a more focused approach to the area of immunobiology at the College, the new Department of Immunobiology currently consists of a small cadre of tenured and tenure-eligible faculty who are actively engaged in research in immunobiology. These faculty members form a unit that interacts with other disease-oriented units dedicated to the study of cancer, chronic inflammatory conditions including asthma, allergy, arthritis, and diabetes, and pathogenesis of infectious disease. Departmental faculty are also engaged in teaching graduate and medical students and post-doctoral fellows.
The successful candidate will be a tenured professor with an internationally known, innovative research program in immunobiology. S/He will also promote training of independent, creative and productive scientists with an emphasis on interdisciplinary collaborations and will be committed to medical and graduate student education and to the preservation and enhancement of diversity.
In keeping with a major goal of the College of Medicine within a Research One University, the Head of Immunobiology will participate actively in expansion of the research effort within the College of Medicine and promulgate interactions with the broader immunology research community throughout the campus. This mission will be facilitated by the exciting new opportunities provided by an ongoing building program that will soon dramatically increase available research space for the biological and health sciences. A competitive recruiting package is offered, including an attractive salary, generous laboratory space and resources for new faculty recruitment, and support of current personnel, operating expenses and equipment.
