Welcome to the IDML
The Informatics and Decision-Making Laboratory (IDML) is an interdisciplinary research unit in the University of Arizona's College of Medicine. The mission of the IDML is to conduct research on decision-making in healthcare, to develop informatics interventions for decision support grounded in such research, and to apply these discoveries to improving the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care. The IDML engages in training of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as medical students, interns and residents seeking to improve their research and quantitative skills. The subtleties associated with outcomes research are a focus of IDML research. The IDML is comprised of affiliated faculty from diverse disciplines such as systems engineering, psychology, medicine, surgery, nursing, pharmacoeconomics, and information systems, and also includes computer hardware and software for data gathering and analysis (including statistical packages and Web-based systems), and administrative support.
