Concentration Learning Objectives
- Identify and discuss some central philosophical, historical, legal, ethical, and other humanistic issues of importance to biomedicine and health care.
- Identify and discuss relevant theories, principles, and frameworks for considering issues in medical humanities and ethics.
- Identify and discuss relevant research methodologies for addressing issues in medical humanities and ethics.
- Illustrate and interpret the complex range of cultural, social, scientific, and medical contexts within which issues in medical humanities and ethics arise.
- Locate scholarly publications and other relevant literature in medical ethics and humanities using appropriate library resources.
- Critically evaluate primary and secondary scholarly literature in medical humanities and ethics.
- Critically examine selected debates in medical humanities and ethics.
- Design and develop a scholarly research project in an area of medical humanities and ethics.
- Present and defend the design of a scholarly research project, orally and in writing, to peers and faculty.
- Conduct the scholarly research project.
- Present and defend progress on the scholarly research project, orally and in writing, to peers and faculty.
- Present and orally defend the written version of the scholarly research project.
