The University of Arizona College of Medicine is proud to offer a variety of high-quality educational programs, ranging from the teaching of undergraduate university students to the education of masters and doctoral-level scientists to the training of residents and fellows in medical specialties and subspecialties.
Medical Education
Medical Student Education: This program accepts students who have completed their college education. This four-year course of intensive study leads to the Doctor of Medicine degree. Upon completion of the M.D. graduates typically enter a residency in the medical specialty of their choice.
Dual-Degree Programs: These programs offer medical students the opportunity to receive Masters in Public Health, Masters in Business Administration or Doctor of Philosophy degrees in conjunction with the Doctor of Medicine degree.
Graduate Medical Education: Our residency programs accept doctors who have completed their M.D. degrees and train these new physicians in their chosen medical specialties. Our fellowship programs provide advanced subspecialty training to physicians who have completed residency programs. After completion of these programs, physicians are eligible to be certified by the boards that govern their specialties.
Continuing Medical Education: The University of Arizona College of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Education sponsors and accredits educational programs for practicing physicians. Continuing medical education credits are required for medical licensure.
Undergraduate Education
The College of Medicine sponsors an undergraduate degree program. Our Department of Physiology offers a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences Degree in Physiology. The University of Arizona is one of fewer than 10 American universities to offer a physiology major.
Graduate Student Education
Our graduate programs accept students who have completed their college education. These programs lead to masters or doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees. The College of Medicine directly sponsors three graduate programs and contributes significantly to university-wide Graduate Interdisciplinary Programs. |
