The mission of the Department of Surgery is to foster excellence in surgical education, patient care, service, learning, healing and research. We are committed to providing the very best patient care, to teaching at all levels of learning, particularly in the clinical training and didactic education of medical students and residents and fellows, and to conducting research to generate and disseminate new knowledge.
Faculty members of the UA Department of Surgery are actively involved in a variety of clinical and basic research projects directed towards conquering disease and improving quality of life. The Department of Surgery vigorously supports scientific investigation and continues to build programs in research and research training.
