Obstetrics & Gynecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides education and training to students residents, and fellows in the practice of obstetrics and gynecology, makes nationally and internationally recognized contributions to basic and clinical research, models and promotes excellence in primary and specialty care, and is dedicated to provide high quality patient education and care.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides education and training to four distinct categories of medical professionals: medical students, residents in Obstetrics and Gynecology, fellows in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and postgraduate professionals.

Areas of research interest include papilloma virus and its relationship to female reproductive system cancers, hormonal replacement therapy and delivery systems, development of new endoscopic and laser techniques and clinical applications, normal and abnormal fetal development and intra-uterine treatment of abnormalities, and mathematical assessment of fetal cardiac activity.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides diagnostic, consultative, preventive and therapeutic services in the medical care of the female reproductive system. Areas of special expertise include high risk obstetrics, gynecologic endoscopy, dysplasia, perinatal medicine, endocrinology, urodynamics, infertility, assisted reproduction techniques, genetic counseling, and gynecologic oncology. The department also offers genetic, sexual, and teenage pregnancy counseling programs.
