Phoenix Program
The Phoenix program of the UA College of Medicine is a full, four-year program that was dedicated in October 2006. It is an expansion to downtown Phoenix of the UA College of Medicine program begun in 1992, which offered third- and fourth-year medical students the opportunity to complete their training at Phoenix-area hospitals. The new Phoenix program takes its place in newly renovated historic buildings on the Phoenix Biomedical Campus in downtown Phoenix. The campus also is home to Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) and the Arizona Biomedical Collaborative, a joint research venture of the UA, Arizona State University (ASU) and Northern Arizona University.
Officially known as The University of Arizona College of Medicine–Phoenix, in partnership with Arizona State University, the Phoenix program is a collaborative effort with ASU, the City of Phoenix, TGen, Valley hospitals, community physicians, foundations and other organizations to bring research and biomedical engineering to Maricopa County and further strengthen health care for Arizona. |
